I’m convinced he’s a closet Trump supporter.

That doesn't reflect well on Trump.

Carter was a coward. If he had any sense of what was right he would have bombed the hell out of Tehran to free the hostages or at the very least teach those Islamic thugs not to mess with America.

Do any of the people claiming that Carter is only saying this because he is "too nice" have any idea of who Jimmy Carter is at all? Jimmy Carter has been the most outspokenly critical former President, and has attacked virtually all of his successors in some way or another.

He criticized Obama way more than he has criticized Trump.

Jimmy Carter is an overall decent human being, but people who think he's a teddy bear are wrong.

chickenhawk?

dude when I was 18 I tried to join the army, they told me I was psychotic and could never be in the military. It bothers me to this day that I can't be in the military and I doubt I could ever be in the FBI or DEA either, which were another two dreams of mine.

Why exactly would Carter support Trump? He's been a loyal Democrat all his life, and when it comes to personality and politics, he and Trump could not be any farther apart.

I’m convinced he’s a closet Trump supporter.

Yup, I'm almost certain that he voted for Trump. He has a contrarian streak and has always viewed himself as an outsider to Washington, which aligns well with Trump. He also hates the Clintons.

Carter hates John Bolton, so you guys can't say he's that much of a Trump supporter.

Besides, he voted for Sanders in the primary. What kind of person would vote Sanders/Trump? (This is a rhetorical question)

Things are getting so bad over at the GOP that now they want to claim Jimmy Carter as their own. Rofl

It is not happening anyway, no matter what Mueller finds. I have zero confidence in the congressional GOP.

Agreed. If carter's apprehension is about Pence, I have no doubt that he would also be a nightmare but he's pretty much diet Ted Cruz. I think we would have gotten a Pence Presidency if any other Republican aside from Trump got nominated and won the general in 2016.

I love Carter, and think history has been generally unfair to him, but I don't agree with this. He can't be given the benefit of doubt, and he's proven as such.

Dems won't have the 2/3rds majority to convict Mr. Trump, but regardless, the damage has already been done for 2018 and 2020. Dems will back control.

John Oliver did a 20 minute long piece last week on the exact reason I hope Trump serves out his term, then, after being made a lame duck for half his presidency due to massive losses in the 2018 midterms, loses in a landslide to Kamala Harris and Tammy Baldwin in 2020.

Trump should NOT be impeached unless he is going to be removed from office. And only the GOP can decide if he should be removed. It's up to the Republicans. That being said, I hope they remember that they are Americans and owe their allegiance to the Constitution and nation before their political party.

Fake posters do set us up for some easy points (what with that being the puppeteer's entire point of being here and all), maybe that's why he's stuck around so long.  Is it really that helpful to the cause if it's all so transparent?  People hate fake sh**t.

If Carter were a "coward" that would be precisely something he'd do, as it would ensure his reelection as a wartime President.

why can't you be banned for accusing other posters of being fake?

I think you're the one who should be banned, not me.

I concur. I worry that if a Democratic majority House impeaches him, but the Senate fails to convict, that it will backfire on the Democrats horribly.
