Paul opposed Pompeo for CIA director. This isn't a surprise at all. I'm glad, for one.

I'm not a big fan of either of these folks.  But I'm less of a fan of blocking nominees so it can be harder for a President to get his agenda passed so that the President can look bad and the out party can win midterms.

People are pretty much being open about that as a goal here.  That's pretty sad.  As for Tillerson, I respect him, but if he would not support Trump's agenda, he needed to resign or be fired.  People elected Trump, not Tillerson.

As an aside, I wonder if a number of liberal Democratic female Senators from Democratic states will support Haspel, given that she'd be the first woman to run the CIA.

This. And on Haspel, it'd be nice to have a CIA director without a standing arrest warrant in a G-20 country

Can't imagine Harris, Klobuchar or Gillibrand doing so; would damage their presidential chances. I can't particularly see Smith, Duckworth, Cantwell, Murray, Hirono etc doing so either. Even Feinstein is out, given De Leon.
