POLICE officers stationed on North Stradbroke Island have been accused of holding boozy barbecues and drinking in public, the offences they have been sent to curtail among teens.
The officers were dispatched to the island to control hundreds of teens who have gathered for pre-Schoolie parties, which last year ran out of control.
But people on the island claim a high-ranking officer organised an alcohol-fuelled lunch in a public park on Monday, and that other officers were seen drinking on beaches.
Young people caught with alcohol in public have been slapped with $225 on-the-spot fines.
