Good
Focus only on China and cracking down on their unfair trade practices

Then there are some good "thank you Donald trump for making America great again" adds with the price of things increasing and no jobs really being saved.

I’m not saying he so far has done it correctly but he is correct about the fact that the US needs to crack down on unfair Chinese trade practices

What should have been done is this :

The US should have done is signed a more transparent version of the TPP, then signed free trade deals with India , other Asian countries and Latin America.

Throughout that whole process you begin to slowly increase the amount of tarrifs you impose on china , and once you are done with making free trade deals with those countries, you can go full on protectionist Against China and tell them that the US doenst need China anymore for trade .

And then you wake up when Americans refuse to pay more for any products and the revolt begins...

This is the process Im talking about(not the process trump has taken)

1. Signing Free Trade Agreements with other countries all around the world(like India, Pacific Countries, Latin America)

2. Once that free trade deal is signed, and say that country we just signed a free trade deal with can give us the same products China is giving us at around the same price, you impose tariffs on China on those products but at the same time dont tariff any other country for that product(this will incentivize corporations in the US to get products from these new countries and not China)

3. Then once corporations start to get more of their products from these other countries, you will have reduced the reliance on US trade with China

No this will not bring jobs back(it probably will just shift them to these new countries) , but what it will do is greatly reduce Chinese power and that should be the goal because they are becoming more and more of a threat.

How many spectacular, futuristic, not-going-to-happen events are you going to add to your "wet economic dream" scenario?

no its not going to happen but it is what should happen but wont because of these reasons

1. The Far Left and Far Right are way too protectionist for them to sign new free trade deals with these other countries

2. Most of the Center-Left and Center-Right support free trade with no reservations(even with countries who have unfair trade practices )

Also by the way what Im saying is pretty similar to what Romney's Free Trade proposal was in 2012
