What do you think the next Italian government will be?

I'm leaning towards the center-right coalition with Salvini as Prime Minister, but I feel like that might change.

Well, despite Renzi's remarks, the new leadership (whoever that may be) may try and form with the 5 Star Movement. After all, M5S is not exactly friendly with Lega, so a center-right coalition would be unstable. M5S also draws more support from the left, if one of the charts I saw on the main thread was correct. However, it is still hard to say.

I know not with what parties the next Italian government will be made, but the one after that will be made of sticks and stones.

Salvini seems pretty close to being premier, but I'd say to right-wingers that it's probably too good to be true.

I honestly wouldn't rule out a M5S coalition with the PD, but that might not work because of their differing views on Europe.

However, I will predict this: each plausible coalition will pose as a nuisance to the European Union.

M5S-PD-AP-CP-+E-I, with Luigi De Maio as PM, Alessandra Moretti at Justice or Interior, and Alfano staying on at Foreign Affairs.

Just some points of note:

I believe +E and I are excluded from parliament due to not making the 3% threshold. Also, AP ran as a part of CP, and I'm can't recall whether or not they made the cutoff.

M5S-LN is simply the option that makes the most sense. On the other hand... given that this is Italy, that might be a good reason to discard it.

Can they avoid a formal coalition and have some sort of confidence agreement or minority government? Because this doesn't look like an ideal situation for a majority coalition to form.
