The Intercept and #resistance and #JusticeDemocrats are going to tear him apart for accepting NRA money 8 years ago, causing a nobody to win the Democratic primary and ceding a easy pickup to the GOP.

Win the congressional seat in almost any scenario.

Win the congressional seat in only some scenarios.

If Van Drew is not the nominee, the second choice it is. It wouldn't be easy for a leftist democrat with no name recognition to mount a successful campaign in a Trump+6 district. Van Drew barely has to lift a finger in the general, and will almost certainly be whipped into party-line on most important votes (see Gottheimer).
