According to Quinnipiac:

Then: Do you approve or disapprove of President Trump's response to the mass shooting in Las Vegas?

Approve: 50%
Disapprove: 34%
DK/NA: 16%

Now: Do you approve or disapprove of President Trump's response to the recent school shooting in Florida?

Approve: 33%
Disapprove: 52%
DK/NA: 15%

What happened here?

To be honest I believe the partisan leaning of the victims helped in the Vegas shooting reaction. It was a more favorable demographic than the one in Parkland. Just imagine the country reaction to Trump had Sandy Hook or god forbid Charleston shooting had happen under Trump.

1) His tweeting.
2) His golf and disco party detour.
3) The kids and the parents are constantly on his ass and he can't attack them.

He actually gave a speech worth half a Butterfinger in Vegas, he did no such thing with Parkland.

He didn't blame Vegas on the Russia investigation.

Vegas was his first one. (Stupid) People gave him the benefit of the doubt. He's blown that, and people think post-Parkland is just more BS from a BS'er.

He’s in a difficult spot now.

I think (hope) the public is going to hold him accountable post-Parkland. And especially when/if there’s another mass shooting.

He pretty much has to do something. But whatever he does will likely anger many voters and the NRA because they all think a ban on assault and military grade weapons is an assault on their freedoms somehow.
