If they were able to remove voters from the rolls, then they committed voter fraud.

Not that the GOP will mind, they’re using the same strategy.

I feel a little guilty picking on maroon avatars, because there are a lot of good ones, but the bad ones are really bad.

In all seriousness, I am a wholehearted maroon avatar, I'm just way more cynical in how I go about pursuing maroon avatar type goals than most of them.

We don't know who won. Perhaps we never will.

So what happens if it's shown that Hillary actually did win, but Russia altered the votes in a few key states?

Not sure how something like that could be proven, but hypothetically, what would happen if it were?

Note that this is talking only about voter registration systems, not vote counts, and there is no evidence any were altered (although it is difficult to prove that with certainty).

So is anyone actually going to make these systems more secure rather than just yelling Russia? China might have already hacked them.

We might be able to make statistical inferences. As an example, NBC was really slow to call Ohio, which went for Trump by 8%, or Iowa, which Trump won by 9%. In 2008 the media called Ohio after about two hours when Obama won it by 4%. Only where the state  is slow in voting and the partisan votes for one side that ends up winning come late (the blatant exception, Florida in 2000) are the media slow in calling a state. Texas, which Trump won by a similar margin as he won Iowa and Ohio, was an instant call -- to nobody's surprise.

Look at all the last-minute collapses for Democratic nominees for the Senate.

We may never know how the Senate would have gone, either.

Let's put it this way -- if someone makes a gigantic bet on a 200-1 long-shot at a horse track, and that horse wins, and there is something suspicious about the running of the horses... management of the horse track might seek some blood samples from the losing horses for investigation by law enforcement agencies before there is a payout.

Electoral history may yet look upon the 2016 election much as sports historians look at the 1919 World Series.

If only we had a dedicated body that could exercise discretion and judgement if such a situation were to happen with our elections.

Of course, they'd need to know that such interference had occurred. Ideally with formal notification from the government.  Unless someone were to somehow prevent that.

Oh. Well. I'm sure that Mitch McConnel didn't hand the Presidency to Donald Trump out of any petty, personal motives. It's not like he personally gained anything from Trump winning, right?

Okay, okay. So yeah, it doesn't look good. But in the end, it's politics, even partisan politics, not just selling out the nation for private gain, right?

I mean, if this happened to Republicans, they would demand a massive and immediate nuclear attack on the offending country and the subsequent occupation of remains of said country and hauling off of that country's survivors onto reservations.

Don't be ridiculous. They'd demand a massive and immediate payout to well-connected defense contractors, the occupation of some lucrative oil fields, and (these days) the hauling off of immigrants and outspoken liberals into camps.
