Who do you think it will be? I am a bit confused since I am not entirely sure how the election works in California. Do Gubernatorial Candidates choose their running mates before or after the primary, or is the Lieutenant Governor voted on in its own election? Or is it neither and the  candidates decide Lieutenant Governor after elected?

There is an entirely separate election for Lt. Gov. and they do not run together or on a ticket.

So, if elected, Newsom would have no say in who his Lieutenant was, just like Jerry Brown had no say that Newsom was his lt. Gov.

Have there been any polls? Wiki doesn't have any listed.

Eleni Kounalakis is the likely frontrunner for LG. She has the full support of the NorCal establishment and they’re much better at winning statewide elections than SoCal politicians.

No and I doubt it will be. Their are to many candidates running and the polls are focused on the governor's race.

I've voting for Hernandez's opponent, whoever they may be, simply because when I applied and interviewed for a job at his State Senator office they didn't hire me. This was despite them hiring one of my former co-workers and a former classmate who both vouched for me.

Even Trumpist Republican David Hernandez, who ran against Eric Garcetti in 2017?

If that's the opponent, then yes. That's why I always vote against state assemblyman Ian Calderon. His office didn't hire me either despite working on his campaign! I met with him in person multiple times before he got elected. He comes from a corrupt family and he's not that smart to be honest, literally a surfer bro.
