As the fallout from the federal election draws to a close, a thread on Canada's next major upcoming election (with the exception of the territorial election in Nunavut) seems to be appropriate, even if there will not be many posts for a while. I have tentatively given the title 'before June 2 2022' though a motion was unanimously passed stating that no election would be called before this fixed date.
At the last election, Kathleen Wynne's incumbent Liberal government was defeated and came third, with Doug Ford's Progressive Conservatives taking a majority of seats. Wynne has since been replaced by former Minister Steven Del Duca, who was defeated. Andrea Horwath's New Democrats rose to second and became the Official Opposition. The Greens have a lone MPP in their leader Mike Schreiner.
Polling has varied considerably throughout Ford's term. It currently shows to be the parties in the same order, though with the PCs lower and the Liberals higher than at the last election.
