Have you ever qualified for a job at either place?

No, but the Secret Service has this reputation for embarrassing headlines in recent years...

At the risk of sounding vaguely like Reagan fan, I have at least a tiny bit of sympathy for these guys. So while off duty at a training convention the guy gets Blotto drunk and invites a hottie back to his room. Oh no!! What kind of monster would ever do something like that?!?

Answer: about 90% of both men and women. It's hardly their fault that the women turned out to be scumbag thieves who stole from the guy.

Quick question. Would we be judging them differently if the FBI agent was a woman and some dude she brought back to her hotel room robbed her of thousands of dollars while she was drunk?

Not top caliber performance, but let's not go overboard.

It's the carrying drunk part that's bad.

True if that is the case, but we don't know if he had merely left it in his room while he went to the bar. It sounds like the worst thing he did was not lock his gun up in the room safe. Sloppy and worthy of a written reprimand in the guy's file perhaps, but little more.

If he was in fact carrying wow blackout drunk, though, that's more serious and the guy probably needs an EAP put into effect.

If he went back to his room with a hottie with his gun available to snatch, that is a problem whether drunk or not. You don't make your gun "available" to strangers.  Surely he violated procedure by doing that, and to me it is a rather serious violation.

Solution: Hire Mormons for the FBI (CIA too for good measure) and Secret Service. We don't drink, smoke, have pre-marital relations, or gamble!
