Adlai said very clearly it was the right decision. What he said was he would not send in federal troops to try to enforce it.

That sounds to me like he was talking about something else? The wikipedia footnote only leads to a secondary source that doesn't even provide a citation for the quote.    Ike and Adlai both had basically the same position, regardless of the political spin of each party depending on target demographic: support for integration, to be implemented locally and gradually without a heavy federal footprint. Ike sent in troops to the Little Rock when he saw that this would not work and the situation demanded it to prevent violence.
