At least it TENTATIVELY appears that the SLC government realizes that the cops stepped in it big time. It's a question now of whether it was the cops at the hospital alone or, as the lead Detective claims, superiors demanding he follow through with getting that blood sample come hell or high water.

I was just following orders isn't good enough.........Lock em up!

Tip: If you work in finance and commit fraud on the order on your boss, you still go to jail.

So this was the tipping point for some of you?

I would love to see how differently this thread would be if the nurse was a person of color.

So "good cops" engage in extrajudicial executions of protestors. Gotcha.

The oppressed masses of America are no doubt grateful to you for boldly speaking truth to power by posting on Atlas.  You are truly at the forefront of the war on police brutality.

I like how this is the part of this thread that makes you mad. This isn't an isolated incidents. I don't think saying that good cops and good police departments are quite rare would be an exaggeration.

I like how you have weaker reading comprehension skills than Donald Trump.  Protip: Next time, try responding to what the other person actually said.  For example, I never said this was an isolated incident nor that I wasn't upset about the officers' actions (I obviously disgusted by what they did btw.  I guess I assumed that'd go without saying, but clearly I over-estimated you; don't worry though, it won't happen again!).

I did point out that PublicUnofficial is basically the definition of a slacktivist wannabe-EdgeLord whose idea of social justice shouting "oink oink" whenever he sees a police officer.  Such individuals should be treated with scorn and ridicule as they do very real damage to the causes they claim to care about by giving the right a ready-made supply of obnoxious whackos straight out of a stereotype coloring book.

These are the geniuses who do things like go to BLM rallies with a banner saying "the only good cop is a dead one."  And that sort of BS really pisses me off not only because of casual way these types throw around violent rhetoric (we just saw where that leads with Trump) and because there are many, many excellent police officers who risk their lives every day so that these entitled slacktivists can live in a functional society, but b/c issues like criminal justice reform and police brutality actually matter to me.

I don't see police brutality as some cheap excuse I can milk into an online attention-whoring session, I see it as a national epidemic that continues to claim the lives of innocent Americans in a truly unconscionable manner and every time some pseudo-FarLeft doofus goes on a blatantly absurd rant laced with ridiculous hyperbole, they give ammunition to those who would fight real change at every turn.

If you guys want to help, stop foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog and think before you bare your teeth.  Otherwise the whole movement for criminal justice reform will be perceived as a bunch of mad dogs whose howls can be dismissed with the wave of a hand.  You may not feel that's fair and it probably isn't, but those of us who actually care about reform have to live in the real world even if it's not as emotionally satisfying as posting anonymous rants about how all cops are evil and then patting yourself on back.

P.S: You can be disgusted by some officers' behavior without thinking all cops are evil.  Shocking, I know.

In my experience,  Giant emotional rants about antifa and freedom of speech are rarely associated with progressive positions on social justice. You give off enough of an air of a white-moderate that I assumed.

Let me clarify. I'm not saying following orders exonerates the detective. Rather, it'll be key to whether some of his superiors go down as well (justifiably if they knowingly backed this stupid decision).

In my experience,  Giant emotional rants about antifa and freedom of speech are rarely associated with progressive positions on social justice. You give off enough of an air of a white-moderate that I assumed.

- First off, are you seriously arguing that caring about freedom is speech is incompatible with having progressive views on social justice?  I just want to make sure I have that right.

- I don't think I've mentioned Antifa once in this entire thread, but okay.

- Regarding the bolded part: Using a person's skin-color to try to delegitimize their views like that just makes it obvious that you're either a racist, a shameless race-baiter, or both.  You do realize that right?

- So when you call me a "moderate," what specific policy positions of mine are you using as the basis for your claim (aside from the fact that I'm white, obviously we can't forget about that Roll Eyes )?  Or do you just like tossing around buzzwords and seeing if they stick?

I am white, yes.  Incredibly sensitive about it?  No, not really.  I mean, you're the one who seems obsessed with my skin color.  Project much?

I do say "can I speak to your manager" sometimes when I'm dealing with Time Warner/Spectrum.  It usually works too, sometimes you gotta get past the incompetent folks to get anything done *shrug*  I'm not sure what that has to do with my skin color though.  If anything, it's probably got more to do with being from a wealthy suburban family.

Now if we're talking culturally white...well...I gotta say that a white person telling another white person "You are so incredibly white" and "I'm white, but not the...level white you eminate" is like something from stereotype coloring book.

And look, if I sound to you like a white man...well...it's probably because I am.  I'm kinda confused about why you seem to think I'd be insulted by someone calling me "white."

And just to remind us that not every hideously stupid and over-broad post on Atlas these days comes from Trump supporters...
