LeBron James endorsed former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, did a campaign rally with her in Cleveland two days before the election. She lost the 2016 presidential election however, and she lost Ohio due to Trump's white working class appeal and a low turnout with black voters. In 2018, Ohio Democrats will look to win the Ohio governorship for the first time since 2006, and to reelect Sherrod Brown in a tough campaign in a Republican-leaning state. Can James' endorsement of OH Democrats help them?

Not really. NEOH is already the base for the Democratic Party and NEOH is where James carries the most weight. He's not going to flip any undecided voters -- or not any significant number of them, anyway. His endorsement might increase turnout in Cleveland and Akron slightly.

Aren't the Cavs popular in southeast Ohio and rural areas..these are areas with lots of sports fans.

They're much more into football, and to a lesser degree, baseball.

2016 showed how overrated celebrity endorsements are.

He campaigned for Hillary and Strickland and it clearly didn't help.

Now, this is just silly. LeBron will finish his career playing for the Cavs.

If he did go to Golden State, the NBA would turn into a one-party dictatorship, so to speak.

In my opinion Lebron should stay but he's likely going to go to Boston or the Spurs

I'll take Kevin Durant's word on LeBron staying over the guts of people who have never met the man. If LeBron was staying, Kyrie would have stayed. The only reason he's leaving is to get out of LeBron's shadow, and if LeBron were leaving, Kyrie wouldn't need to leave.

It could increase black turnout (especially in Cleveland), but it won't do anything to flip the state.

Lebron staying with the Cavs is 50/50 imo

Also his impact on politics is minimal

Celebrity endorsements can help in primaries (indeed Trump was very much helped from some American football coach man in Indiana iirc) but are largely irrelevant in generals.
