As a transgender person, I'm still not totally sold on Gillibrand for 2020, but it's hard to ignore her leadership here. I'm not going to vote for or against her based solely on this but this effort could be -- for obvious reasons -- very important to me. She's more on my radar now, I guess.

This is yet another example of Gillibrand-as-uber-feminist/SJW.  In the old days, there was the presumption that female candidates for president would need to be careful about not playing into gender stereotypes, or giving the impression that they would be too overly concerned with so-called "women's issues".  But Gillibrand focuses on gender issues (which in this particular case is more about LGBT than men vs. women) in a way that, as far as I can tell, is unprecedented for someone who appears to have presidential ambitions, and I'm legitimately curious to see how that's going to play out.
