SoS statement regarding possible conflict in far east

One of President Goldwater's last actions before leaving office was to order a pre-emptive strike against North Korea with the support of the South Koreans, Germany/the EU, among others.  Despite a last minute attempt to talk him out of this, it was too late.

What is done is done.

Since this action, President Fhtagn and I have been working with the Russians and China to avoid conflict with those nations, which backed North Korea after our attack by providing weapons and placing sanctions on trade with Atlasia.  We gave significant concessions to Russia and they have agreed to remove the sanctions and back off of the conflict. 

We are still working with the Chinese government to come to a solution that would avoid military conflict while also protecting South Korea from impending northern invasion.

I cannot stress the seriousness of this situation enough.  If this needle is not threaded with utmost care, we could find ourselves in an unprecedented global conflict.

I have full confidence in President Fhtagn's ability to respond to this situation in a manner that will minimize economic disruption and hopefully avoid conflict with China while also doing our duty to protect the people of South Korea.  Already evacuations are being undertaken in Seoul even as the first bombing raids have commenced from the North.

This is an extremely tense international situation and we need to be ready.  I would ask for as much cooperation as possible with the President so we can keep Atlasia safe and honor our duties to our allies.
