It won't.

Not substantially, anyway. Anyone who hates Sheriff Joe already hates Trump anyways.

Not necessarily. Arpaio lost reelection by almost 13 points even as Trump narrowly won Maricopa County.

Not one bit.  Those who support him fall into the following categories (and sometimes more than one of them):

-Blind Loyalty (he could rape someone on live tv and they would support him because he has a R in front of his name)
-Racist Hate-Mongers (David Duke, the KKK, Neo-Nazi's)
-People Who Aren't Paying Attention (this makes up a large # of his followers ... they are numb and disinterested)

Net negative, although no one will care.

All these "LOL BASE WILL LOVE THIS AND VOTE FOR TRUMP EVEN HARDER" takes are really pissing me off.

i mean unless they're going to commit super voter fraud and vote 1017 times you can only rile up the base so much.

Pardon paperwork is being written up for Joe Arpaio.

I am reminded that legendary Democrat Andrew Johnson pardoned the Confederates. Interesting times.

"Both sides" would work here if Johnson was anything but a conservative.

This could hurt him a bit in Arizona going into 2020, but I'd argue he was already on track to lose the state. He needs to revamp this Presidency and pardoning Arpaio isn't gonna do him any favors.

Flips Maricopa than AZ likely flips---- no?

Believe that was the point I was making earlier.....

"I shot the sheriff" was re-written as a musical soundtrack using some tradition Caribbean Reggae tracks, with a dual language overlay in Spanish to describe the importance of voting in the 2016 Election against Sheriff Joe....

Ok---- That is actually FAKE NEWS (really).

However reality is that there was a grassroots movement, that registered voters in Phoenix and Maricopa that Micro-targeted areas in that endeavor. There were thousands of volunteers that went out weeks before election day (Early Voting HUGE in AZ,, but not 100% like Oregon), and knocked and kept knocking on doors, as what was essentially more like a massive campaign for Mayor or Governor, or President....

What happened?

The Old Conservative Republican Anglos that always vote, and view Maricopa as their own private village have become so detached from the reality of Metro Phoenix.

Meanwhile the workers that tend their lawns, Manscape their Private Golf Courses with images of Trump, serve them dank food at their favorite restaurants and drinks at their local bars, tend to them in their old age and sickness in the Medical Sector are increasingly Latino, not to even mention all of the younger and Middle Aged Latino-Americans that are college students, construction workers, cops & firefighters, and Tech Sector workers....

Let's face it.... OC is now permanently done gone and buried for the Trumpist Wing of the GOP. Maricopa County is next on the list, considering the high concentration of SoCal older 'Pub retirees in these parts.

America is and always has been a dynamic country, and sure there are a ton of "Old White Folk" that are scared that America of today doesn't look like the America of when they were 20-30 years old....

Hell--- That's the same deal that happened in the early 1900s where there was all that racist crap like "No Irish/Italian need apply".

They were considered foreigners/outsiders and not believing in American Values.... Political activists, agitators, destroying the moral fabric of America....

We won't even go into the Anti-Catholicism and Anti-Semitism of the era, which strangely rings a bell with some of the Anti-Muslim bigotry that has become increasingly fashionable over the past 10-15 years, (Including a few posters on Atlas whom I will not name).

So to wrap it up, an Arpaio pardon will absolutely flip Maricopa "Big League", mainly because it will trigger the very base of activists that were so much more motivated to volunteer tons of time effort (And even money from small local donations) than they were to support HRC or the opponent to McCain in '16.

Tells you something about what would happen if Trump pardons the dude...

AZ would flip in the 2018 US SEN GE regardless of their candidate, if God forbid anything were to happen to McCain and there is a snap Senate election over the next few years, that seat would flip.

Net gain DEM US-SEN 2 Seats.... thinking there might be a US House Seat out there as well....
