How come when Democrats say stupid things, they have to apologize, but when Republicans do it they get elected

This is talk of an assassination.

Ted Nugent received a visit from the Secret Service, and rightly so.

What I am curious about is what this woman's constituents think of her comments.  Are they down with them or not?

From what I have heard, she is seen as a bit of a joke in her Missouri district.

As I said before, I AM one of her constituents. I support her decision to not resign, and I accept her apology. I can't say how well her other constituents regard her, other than to point out how badly she did a little over one year ago when she unsuccessfully challenged Lacy Clay in MO-1. That could be just as much a testament to how much the Democrats in her district think of Clay as it is a testament of how much they think she of her as a joke.

Now she is getting punished by the Senate.

And btw, what Sen. Chappelle-Nadal said about hoping that Trump is assassinated is exactly the same thing that a certain woman said 36 years ago about Ronald Reagan. That woman lost her job in the Harris County, Texas constable's office, but the Supreme Court ruled that firing her for saying that she HOPES Reagan gets assassinated violates her freedom of speech.

Rankin v. McPherson.

This stoopid is also illegal.
Except it's not? Hoping that someone else does something illegal is not illegal.

Calling for the assassination of the president will get you a terse visit from the Secret Service. Period.

It's the equivalent of inciting a riot.

Ok but she didn't do that?

A better comparison to your riot example would be like saying it's a crime to say something like "Hey wouldn't it be really cool if a riot broke out right now?"
