Smiley the 10,000th topic Smiley

What if the presidential and the vice-presidential nominees don't run on the same ticket?
Let's assume this constitutional amendment was applied in 2006, therefore taking action in 2008 for the first time.
Would the maps look very different? Would McCain have performed better without the ballast on his ticket? Would Biden have won even more electoral votes?
And what about Kaine? Would he now be the VP under Trump?

Interesting Scenario:
2008: Biden wins all the Obama States; maybe add WV, MO and AZ.
2012: Biden carries all the Obama States.
2016: Kaine holds the blue wall. Wins 278-260.

Assuming Vice Presidents run themselves, not picked by the Presidential nominee:

Romney/Biden: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, Iowa
Obama/Ayotte: New Hampshire, Maine, Minnesota

Mitt Romney - 48.0%
Barack Obama - 47.2%

Joe Biden - 47.8%
Kelly Ayotte - 47.6%

Romney/Biden administration from 2013-2017. Not sure from there.

I don't think Biden would have won WV. McCain, however, would have taken Ohio and Indiana and North Carolina.

Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan would have gone to Tim.
Pence, on the other side, would have taken Minnesota. And New Hampshire would have gone to Trump.

Biden easily defeats Palin in 2008, carries all Obama state plus Missouri, Georgia, and Arizona.

Biden's propensity for gaffes leads to his defeat in 2012, as Paul Ryan runs ahead of Romney in Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan and Florida to win the election as VP.

In 2016. Tim Kaine recovers Florida and picks up North Carolina, running ahead of Hillary in both states to defeat Ryan 276-256.
