Considering we have Donald Trump to run against, this isn't going to bode well for Republicans.

I don't think there is any evidence for any kind of Democrat Gains. He was elected with 60% of the country thinking he was unqualified and turned State Red that haven't been won by a Republican in 30 years. It is much easier for a President to win a second term then a first.

This is a stupid long term move. You're going to make Elizabeth Warren, who has made her raisson d'etre on economic issues the face of the Democratic Party? Look at her issue focus and issue set. They're economic, which is highly attractive to the working class folks in 2024. Why would you want to make her the face of the Democratic Party and force the Democrats to defend her if it would just make them economic populists (like what she wants?)

It's smarter to make a social SJW the face of the Democratic Party.
This, pretty much. SJWs are more of a liability to the Democrats than many expect, especially among Millenial/Gen Z voters. They're like the ungodly love child of the hippies from the 60s and the Christian conservatives from the 90s. I understand how Warren's voice sounds like a shrill mistress, but she was born to a poor family in Oklahoma City and climbed her way up to the top of society; one of the most quintessentially American accomplishments (the American dream). If she highlights this enough in her campaign, and slightly modifies her cadence, she will be a very formidable foe.

Elizabeth Warren is basically like a female Donald Trump. She has a 33 percent approval rating and Trump has around a 35 percent approval rating and she's also a "true progressive" that has a chance of losing both the PV and EV. If she is the nominee in 2020 then this so called populist leftist movement is going to die after she loses
What a blatant misrepresentation of reality. You conveniently omit the fact that by the same metric, her unavailability ratings are about 30%, generally with the gap widening with each passing month (source).

I would say Obama had a tougher time in 2012 than in 2008 and Bush had as much difficulty in 2004  as he did in 2000.
