Trump's such a weird President that the Republicans' worst nightmare isn't necessarily the most electable Democratic candidate, but one who has a plausible chance of winning and can drive the country far to the left.

If Trump's at his current approval rating, Elizabeth Warren is credible.

Someone who has the highest potential to be very competent would also be scary because that person has the best chance of getting reelected.

Steve Bullock. Seriously, look this guy up. He's got that folksy, Biden-like charm. Look at the ad he cut bashing Gianforte's sales tax proposal last year and tell me this guy wouldn't cut into Trump's appeal to rural voters.

Maybe.  He's an outside the box pick who will at least have served two (2) terms as Governor, albeit of Montana (a small, insular state with a mere 3 EV).
