Gorsuch
Kagan
Alito
Sotomayer
Ginsberg
Kennedy
Painful Death

01. John Roberts

03. Neil Gorsuch
04. Anthony Kennedy
05. Clarence Thomas
06. Stephen Breyer
07. Ruth Bader Ginsburg
08. Elena Kagan
09. Sonia Sotomayor

I can't decide who has a more suspect judicial ideology. I legitimately don't get how someone's four favorite Justices can be Thomas, Roberts, Gorsuch, and Kagan. However, ranking Kennedy and Thomas as the worst Republican Justices also seems rather bizarre.

A lot of my ranking is based on personality and temperment. SCOTUS is my favorite brach of government and I have great respect for it as an institution. While I have my own views on judicial interpretation which more often than not align with Thomas (my favorite), I dont think other views of judicial interpretation on the court are illegitimate  (except with Breyer). Roberts is great and by far the smartest justice on the court. Gorsuch is so new, I have no identifiable complaints. And Kagan is really smart, insightful, nerdy, well argued and affable (Scalia hunting buddy) even if I dont agree with her that often. Beyond that, I have genuine complaints regarding Alito, Sotomayer, and Ginsberg, but not to the point that I lose respect for them. Kennedy is a wishy washy attention whore who is mainly consistent when it comes to waxing poetically about how he is the decider. Breyer is alone in having (imho) an evil view on rights  (in that they dont actually exist). I have read hundreds of supreme court opinions so I almost feel like I know them personally.

I don't dislike Thomas anymore and since Scalia died he's been much better but I was not a fan of Thomas deciding to not talk at all on the court for 10 years.

As far as I'm concerned, Kennedy is a liar and a pretentious hypocrite. I  understand what you mean by "wishy-washy," ... he is the quintessential swing-vote, but I loathe the fact that he uses pretentious, hypocritical, deceitful rhetoric in his arguments for both the left wing of the Court and the right wing too.
