In the context of the EU elections, does supporting "gay marriage" mean legalising it across the entire union? I mean, it would be nice, but quite a few Eastern European nations have a constitutional ban on SSM so it might be difficult.

Literally all the pro gay marriage groups are pro refugee relocation Angry

Without the refugee issue, I support S&D.

To be fair, I imagine many of those are being weighed down by Eastern Europe (where gay marriage is mostly illegal). I imagine stuff like the French FN or the Dutch PVV (both on ENF) are pro-gay marriage

The FN is certainly not pro-gay marriage.

And I doubt that even the PVV is, but I might be wrong ...

Gay marriage as an issue was resolved long before the PVV even was a thing. I guess PVV voters would have been opposed back when it still was an issue, but right now the only people who oppose gay marriage are reactionary Muslims and SGP voters (I bet that in a hypothetical gay marriage referendum the anti-SSM camp would overperform in the big cities...). I don't even think CU voters would oppose gay marriage anymore lol. Original Dutch right-wing populist leader Fortuyn was gay himself, even though he probably was one of the ''gays don't want a boring institute like marriage''-people.

I found this 2006 poll on gay marriage. 74% supported it and 20% opposed. CDA voters supported it 49/40 and PVV voters supported it 50/43. The most recent SSM poll I saw (Pew or so) found that less than 10% of people opposed gay marriage so I bet that opposition to SSM with PVV voters has dropped to 15-20%.

Note that supporting gay marriage doesn't mean you're not a homophobe. Plenty of people who support gay marriage for others but probably wouldn't be happy if their child was ''one of them''.

I was going to say the same thing lol

Their voters on the other hand might be a different thing ...

I assume that a big junk or even a majority of FN, PVV and FPÖ-voters support gay marriage.

I don't think I've ever met an FN voter who supports gay marriage, so I doubt they're a majority but I'm sure they exist

What i think is that if FN or ENF comes to power, that they wouldn't attack the gay marriage as it's already quite established and supported by a majority. A lot of people vote for far-right parties, mostly because of immigration, not because they want to abolish the gay marriage again. I mean it's not relevant to their lifes. I don't think homophobia is quite a problem now, at least in (western) Europe. I think the rise of the far-right or right-wing is very similar to the rise of the right-wing in the Rust Belt region, like Trump is not part of the religious right, but has characteristics of the European far-right and he flips the Rust Belt. People vote for far-right parties, almost simply because they're done with the elite, the political correct, fake and censored media and because of immigration.

So they're not pro-gay marriage or the most sceptical of gay marriage, but i wouldn't be concerned that when they come to power, they won't have rights anymore. That's not what people want clearly. I mean i know a lot of LGBTQ people who vote far-right or are right-wing like my foster mom.

Leaning towards ECR, though I don't like the environmental policy.

ECR is where my national party is, though that might change after the election.

The party I'm a member of is probably going to be in ECR... but I voted for an ENF party last time.

ECR has some parties that are too moderate, but ultimately I care more about the voting behavior of my own party than of the group as a whole.

I would like for ECR, ENF and EFD parties to unite in one group.

ECR is where my national party is, though that might change after the election.
Do you think PS are likely to move to ENF?

I suppose the departure of the Tories might lead to the ECR doing in a rightward direction but even then I'd think that any kind of merger with the ENF is incredibly remote - you have parties like N-VA who have no real interest in sitting with the far right for example.

I agree, I don't think it's likely a merger will happen - but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like it.
