No, I would never.  Unless he starts cracking down on Russia.  Then maybe.
Why do you think it would be in America's interests to issue sanctions on Russia? Why do you think Russia is a bigger threat to America's interests than China?
Unlike Russia, China hasn't been trying to destabilize its neighbors.  Granted, that's mainly because it believes (and rightly so in my opinion) that it can achieve its aims without trying to turn its neighbors into shambles.  Both Russia and China seek to expand their influence, but China can and likely will do it with far less devastation to its neighbors than Russia could even hope to use and achieve its aims.

Could we stop being hysterical over Trump? The Left needs to calm down. The man is going to become President. Trying to denounce him as some sort of illegitimate President is going to only intensify the anger his supporters have (plus you're delegitimizing their choice) and make them double down.

Refusing to treat him as a legitimate constitutional officer of the United States, with the powers of the Presidency (as Obama is) is only playing to his advantage.

Want to make him a winning candidate in 2020? Keep treating him this way instead of responding to actual policies and initiatives done, and stop pre-butting him. It's not helping your case. Want to make him lose? Treat him as a normal President, with policies and initiatives and tell his supporters why they're wrong instead of hysterically talking about "normalizing him." This is how Berlusconi was able to stay alive in politics because his supporters felt demonized and doubled down on the insanity just to feel legitimized.

He's already normalized. He's the President-elect of the United States, winning 30 states, and 306 electoral (304) votes.

You're making too much sense, so this will all be ignored. I'm certainly open to actual legitimate criticism, but pretending he is not the legitimate President is juvenile. Anyone who wants to say the Republicans did the same to Obama should look at 2012. It was stupid then and it's stupid now.

The difference between Obama and Trump is incomparable. Obama was never scandal-laden, nor did he have a potty mouth or questionable morals. He did not try to infuse hatred into American politics or pit people against each other.

I don't think there are many people here who think Trump is not a legitimate President (to be). It's his character, his morality, his potty mouth, his ignorance of politics, his hate-mongering etc. that we disdain. And that's a good thing.

In general, I find the practice of forcibly and compulsively pairing someone with an insulting name unfunny and annoying. While this election did produce some classics--Lyin' Ted, Little Marco, etc.--they are amusing in part because they are in jest. The idea of nick naming someone because you think they are literally Hitler is a surefire way to transition into being your worst self.

These are drums that were beaten every day during the election, and yet he won. There are people who disdain all those things about him and voted for him anyway. One would think that a different strategy might be in order.

Refusing to normalize Trump has nothing to do with pretending he's not going to be President. He is. What's important is refusing to make excuses for him. From his unconstitutional conflicts of interest, to his willful ignorance and incompetence, to his rejection of democracy and freedom while carrying water for Putin, Republicans must not be allowed to get away, unchallenged, with pretending Trump is anything but deplorable.  Much like with a puppy that's soiled the rug, Trump voters noses need to be rubbed in the mess they've made as often as is needed for them to learn. Because if they don't learn, the United States is going to end covered in a layer of Trumpcrap.

And how exactly is that going to work? Specifically how is this 'nose rubbing' going to to be done and by whom. Angry lefties like yourself. The opposition of such people has been a boost to Republicans since Nixon's victory in 1968.

Well how about the mainstream media. TV and newspapers. they were what played a crucial role in bringing down Nixon, and indeed in bring down McCarthy and crushing Goldwater.  Surely they can play the decisive part once again in 'rubbing Republican voters nose in it'

Well lets look at the Gallup poll number for how much trust Americans had in mainstream media in 1972-4 period of Watergate

and lets compare it to the level of such trust today according to the latest gallup poll

but were're talking about Trump voters so lets have a look at the breakdown specifically by party

So you want to try doing the 'Trump voter nose rubbing thing. Great, you do that, see how that works out for you.

I assumed this was a parody thread because "normalize" is not a normal word and I've gone from never seeing it to seeing 500 times since the election. Using stupid words wont deprive trump the presidency. Hardcore partisan hackery is normal though so Im not surprised its taking this turn. I will say its amusing that some lefties have spent years going on and on about how America is a racist country with racist police and racist republucans and a racist past and a currently racist system but all of a sudden its not normal that they elect a "racist".

I think a lot of liberals of the mindset that they get to dictate to everyone who is and isn't to be considered normal. that may have been true to a great extent in the TV era but it isn't true now.
