Al Franken.

He's a progressive. He can win back the Midwest. He's uniquely fit to take on Trump in that he's a former entertainer and he doesn't always talk like a typical politican.

Hooray, several people beat me to this suggestion!

That said, I don't think he will do it. He's doing awesome work as a senator and I think he enjoys where he's at. But he'd be a good option to actually win.

Excluding Elizabeth Warren, Kristen Gilibrand, Kamala Harris, Tim Kaine, Cory Booker, Mark Warner and Julian Castro as somewhat known quantities...

Bill De Blasio- There's an opening in the Sanders/ Warren left and a possibility that Warren doesn't run. His interracial marriage can also help with African American voters.

Tammy Duckworth- Just had a big win over an incumbent Republican Senator. Her military background allows Democrats to run on a message of patriotism, while she would also represent diversity. Obama also showed the advantages in a Democratic primary of being a Senator from that big state next to Iowa.

Tom Perez
- He was vetted for veep so he's interested in national office. In a party short on Hispanic talent, he has a resume that can impress liberals.

Tim Ryan- A relatively young Ohio Congressman getting attention for challenging Pelosi, and considered a potential running mate for HRC.

Sherrod Brown- A Midwesterner liked by progressives from a state Hillary lost big.

What about Robert Reich? He could carry Sanders' mantle if he ran in 2020 (not that there's any reason to believe that he would, though he has shown interest in elected office in the past).
He recently got divorced, and he lost the primary the one time he sought elected office.

Lincoln Chafee. I like him, although strategically I can't make a good argument for him.  I don't know if he would run again, but I doubt that he'd do very well. I don't think he would run as a third party candidate or Independent either. I also don't think that he would be a VP pick. Definately a true dark horse.
