Ms. Selzer won’t attend the caucus herself. “You have to walk through a door that says Republicans or Democrats, and I don’t do that.” She is careful to keep her own political opinions private. “I have Republican friends who are sure I’m a Republican and Democratic friends who are sure I’m a Democrat,” she says. “Nobody knows. I had a boyfriend who couldn’t quite believe I wouldn’t tell him. He said, ‘Surely you’re going to tell me.’ I said, ‘Surely I am not.’”
