Not really. Obamacare needs to be restructured, not repealed and replaced. I'm sure Trump, the ultimate negotiator, will leave Obama's legacy in place. He might even save it.

Trump has so much disdain for Obama he'll probably wreck Obamacare out of spite.

I would guess so. The GOP has been vowing repeal for more than six years, Trump is on board, and McConnel has declared repeal a lead off hitter. They can't make all those commitments and not follow through. And now that mandates have been thoroughly politically repudiated, youngs aren't signing up  and costs won't be covered, any replacements will just be patchwork that will be even less effective than the ACA. Pretty dramatic stuff.

There is a hardship protection against people who cant afford the fee at the end of the year anyways.

Most poor people are getting Medi Cal or Medicaid anyways, the fee during tax season will be waved but it is here to stay.

No major national law is secure with the staunch opposition of one major party out of power because something like this will happen eventually. Only things that are accepted by both parties become legacy.

The GOP didn't accept the Department of Education when Carter created it, Reagan was supposed to end it...didn't happen.

The Democrats should troll Trump by offering up an improved version called the Donald J Trump National Healthcare Act To Make Healthcare Great Again.

It's dead (or soon to be) in both brand and substance.

One bright spot (I suppose) is that the Democratic Party (and 2020 presidential candidate) can now incorporate into its platform an explicit endorsement of single payer health care.

Insurers may have been jazzed about the legislation at the beginning. But they were out at the end when the mandate lost all of its teeth. And they've been pulling plans from the exchanges or hiking premiums since. They won't do anything to save the law.

Obamacare is dead, I can either see a healthcare bubble or rising healthcare costs causing the next recession.

My Mom, whom is basically bedridden with preexisting conditions (and has never taken welfare in her life, I might add, and pays all her bills with a self built business) was finally able to get affordable care thanks to Obama and start getting some of her medical issues dealt with. I'm really afraid for her; before Obamacare the costs she would have to pay for healthcare were astronomical, if worse comes to worse I will help her pay for it but there goes my dreams of ever owning a home which I was saving up for. Or maybe there won't even be options for her and she'll just rot away and die.

F**k. Trump.

Republicans look like they'll have 52 seats in the Senate, so the more moderate Republicans Senators will also have a say here. Collins, Murkowski, and...idk, Heller? I certainly don't expect them to "save" Obamacare, but they may provide a third veto point aside from Trump and conservative Republicans.

They will repeal and replace but they will keep most all the popular parts. They know it would be political suicide to boot millions of people off their healthcare plans.

Will the Medicaid expansion be reversed? That seems a real possibility in the Midwestern states.

Have you tried contacting any local media outlets about it? Apologies if I'm coming across as crass, but it's people like you and your mother who will be on the front lines of the political battle over how to replace the Affordable Care Act. You don't need to let anyone use you as a political prop, but don't let people forget about you. Don't let them forget that there's a human face to this.
