Especially in conjunction with declining support of the death penalty. I think if Trump loses or wins and is a bad president, we will see the further erosion of "law and order" policies which give us neither.

WHOA! The American People do not support something not supported by the Presidential Candidates, nor any major politicians! Shocking! No, but seriously, AWB didn't work out well, that's why no one supports it now.

As you can also see this is a rise in the amount of Americans supporting gun sale regulations, a worthy goal.

I thought Hillary supported AWB?

It's almost as if the reeing over a feel-good measure that would have little practical impact in reducing gun deaths, combined with a campaign to shame people offering thoughts and prayers, didn't win any hearts and minds.

"Assault Weapons are truly insignificant statistically when it comes to shootings, so its pretty disingenuous to claim that gun control organizations will stop if they ever achieve this goal if they truly care about safety that much.

Good because assault weapons are poorly defined to the public. That smaller cartridge nonsense needs to go too.

Independent of where you stand on gun control issues, the AWB was simply poor policy. I'm glad to see public opinion moving away from it.

David Jolly's car has killed more people than my assault weapon. Just saying.

I'm sure this will come as a major relief for the friends and families of the more than 33,000 people killed by guns in the U.S. each year!

I can come up with fancy one-liners you'd find on a bumper sticker, too.

Probably won't affect them at all, same as an assault weapons ban...

The amount of people killed by "assault rifles" in a given year is less than 300.
