In less than 48 hours, supporters of @BernieSanders raised $1,774,021 for 13 House and Senate candidates with 334,769 contributions.

(Former Digital Fundraising Director of Bernie tweeted this) -

There are 13 candidates in all for whom nearly 2M $ has already been raised.

Some are -

Deborah Ross (NC)
Catherine Masto (NV)
Zephyr Teachout (NY-19)
Pramila Jayapal (WA)
Paul Clement (WI)

Most are people who have endorsed Sanders or are very strong progressives. But some are also like Mcginty or Masto etc who are in tight races. Sanders is pushing for a Dem House n Senate which is key for passing progressive proposals!

I love this man!

But still, I have to wonder - Jayapal is running in a D+29 district, so isn't she almost guaranteed to win regardless? Resources would be better used by getting them to candidates in competitive races.

It's a D vs. D race here. And while Jayapal is probably the more progressive of the two candidates, they're both pretty staunch lefties and Jayapal seems to already be the runaway favorite of the two. So, yeah, maybe not the best use of resources.

Agreed. And he has raised a lot of money for Zephyr or even people like Mcginty or Hassan who are in tight races. In this race, the DCCC is not giving huge money for Jayapal & Bernie considers her as a progressive champion who will be the future so she needs some support too.

Jayapal was one of the earliest Bernie supporters & she has been an activist for years for immigration rights, against Islamophobia n hate groups after 9/11 backlash!

Any $ sent to Ms. Jayapal is a massive waste of resources

But glad his talents and popularity are going to other solid candidates

Makes more sense in that perspective. Thank you.

I myself would have preferred only keeping it to competitive DvsR races like Teachout's, but I see what he's doing and it's important for his vision. Also, split equally, this is about $136,463 per candidate. That's a lot of money, especially for someone like Teachout!

Teachout actually had 1.4 million cash on hand as of 9/30, 1.1 million more than Faso.  Wink  Though I'm sure there's a lot of outside spending.  Was thinking of doing some volunteering for her.

And here we have the Patrick Murphy in his natural habitat: left out of big fundraising efforts by the rest of a party, sitting in a corner, and crying. Aw well, Ross gets more use out of it anyway.

I feel like this is a good-faith effort by Sanders to show the DNC that he's a team player. He knows he's not that far removed from the rest of the party, and he also knows that doing this kind of stuff make his policies more likely to be embraced by Dems. He's a smart one
