The subject line of this thread is false.  There appears to be no requirement to separately register for Section 7A status if you're already required to file as a New York charity.

Section 172(4) of Article 7-A of the N.Y. Executive Law explicitly states:

The charity would have to file the additional paperwork required of 7A charities.  It's not clear whether Trump's charity did.
