There's no way Trump won this week, period.

I might've said Trump before Hillary's speech, but now I'm going to say Hillary.

Trump, but not by much.
Every week, the e-mail narrative gets a wee bit stronger.  It's a bigger issue now than Watergate was in 1972, and Trump is nowhere near as behind as McGovern was back then.

What?

He is delusional.
They have nothing to hold on to any more, so they revert back to their "default" position .... those damn emails no one gives a hoot about anymore.

The week was dominated by more e-mail bullsh-t, increased play of the Clinton Foundation controversy, more shade on Clinton for her "health" issues, scrutiny of Clinton for not holding a press conference, and tightening polls. On the flip side, we had Trump at least trying to soften his image and reach out to minorities... all this after a campaign shake-up that brought him a campaign manager who is actually very well regarded.

Sure, some of the things Clinton is being hit on are ridiculous, but they still cast doubts that seem to be sticking.

I give her the tie, though, because she seems to have created a big narrative shift with yesterday's speech. And the timing of it could really undermine whatever positive steps Trump was making. But it's a high-risk strategy to so blatantly call Trump a racist, because by extension she's kind of calling his supporters racists. And while I certainly believe they are tacitly endorsing his bigotry by supporting him, everyone knows a Trump supporter... so there's potential for Hillary to go too far.

It just seems like it's generally been a pretty bad week for Hillary that she managed to salvage at the end.

I think it's amazing that any week without a total f*** up is somehow a lean-Trump week. I think it just solidifies the situation rather than shift it.

Neither had a f-ck up though, and I feel like all the little "drip drip" things against Clinton counter balance or even outweigh the one positive thing she had going for her this week (the speech). Is it really that absurd?

No, not absurd. I just don't buy the idea that the email story was all together that dominant and is weakening in its impact.

I don't think anybody won, but I don't get why people are acting like the Hillary speech is the best thing in the world. I voted Trump but neither really won.

The speech was designed to kill his attempted pivot in the cradle.

Voted "tie" because while I think that he'll be hurting down the road, things like Clinton's speech, his more than usual incoherence on immigration, and the wreck that is Bannon haven't really landed yet. He had a few decent moments, and his polling collapse has been arrested, for now.

Of course a "tie" is still "losing to Clinton".

It was a tie until Hillary's alt-right speech, which tilts it in her favor. Her new ads were damn good, but both campaigns are gonna be total wrecks by late October if the Clinton Foundation story gets any bigger

Relax, all I said was "if". I'm completely aware that there's been nothing close to a smoking gun found and I don't believe one will be found.

Just leaving myself open for any future Foundation-related accusations that stick.

Considering the end result, McGovern's campaign is perhaps not the model to follow. Smiley

Exactly.  Trump is behind and the clock is ticking, so a tie week is effectively a win for Clinton.

I love that this election is all about Trump. It is referendum on Trump Smiley

He already changed America. He destroyed Bushes.
It will never be same.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Tie.

Objectively Clinton had the best week with a fierce speech, a continued lead in the polls and Trump wavering on the issues.

However, I believe that the only real way that Trump wins this is by giving the mainstream republicans an excuse to vote for him and for the last two weeks he has been giving them that excuse by behaving in a semi-sane manner and (maybe) moderating his immigration policies are good for that purpose. Also hiring Kellyann Conway was a solid move.

Neither with an edge to Clinton. The Donald had bad press again with his white supremacists but Hillary's foundation problems are troubling.
