I really don't get what the Trump campaign's obsession with Maine is. Even if you somehow picked off that one electoral vote, there's a 99% chance it won't matter.

What, no Washington?

This is probably a good set of states for him to pursue.

Not that I'm defending the choice, but it's probably a relatively cheap market.

You need to advertise in the Portland, ME market to reach Northern New Hampshire. Plus, the Bangor and Presque Isle TV markets that reach the rest of ME-2 are dirt cheap, anyway.

Because Trump is such a great fit for Maine, he just is even though it's the only Northeastern state he lost in the primaries that he can obviously flip it, even though it went for Obama by over 15%.

He only lost it because it was a caucus - he would have won a primary there. Also, if you rate NH a Tossup, you can't rate Maine Safe D, especially not the second district.

Nothing really shocking here. He's just requesting rates, not committing any resources at this point.

Well if that last NH poll is correct, NH and Maine will be a complete waste of time for him. He has no choice but to contest PA as it is his only path. OH and FL are obvious swing states in any election so he has to play there too

Would he have lost a caucus in Massachusetts or Rhode Island? I doubt it. Considering he just scraped by in Vermont, I actually don't think that Upper New England is that strong for Trump. For the record, I don't rate NH a toss-up. I think it's Lean/Likely D, as is ME-02. The statewide vote in Maine is absolutely Safe D, and you're delusional if you think Trump can win it.

NH definitely is, but we need more polls out of ME. I could easily see him winning ME-02 while losing NH decisively.

Yes, Trump won't win statewide, but he could win ME-02. Someone like Kasich would have made the statewide vote interesting, though.

I thought Trump believed that advertising was outdated. Who needed it? He was going to rely on social media to get his message out...I guess that was the same malarkey as "I'm self-funding my campaign."

He could win ME-02, but I'm not sure what's so demographically different about ME-02 and NH, other than "angry women." Tongue I'm sure ME-02 has some angry women of its own.

All are good targets except MN. This is a blue state.

Trump believes in advertising late. Not being first to the party. I fully expect him to get ads up probably sometime after Labor Day.
