Some days it just seems like Trump is depressingly invincible, like no matter what he does his support will only solidify or increase.  Like he famously said, he could go shoot someone in the middle of fifth avenue, Seriously would write "BUT HILLARY" and his poll numbers would go up.

But there have been moments when Trump screwed up and it actually did hurt his numbers, and he had to do something clever to recover or wait for the damage to thin out.  For our collective sanity and to avoid forgetting the past, post those in this thread.

I'll start with the Fiorina debacle at the CNN debate in mid-September.  There was a particular moment in that debate where she rattled off a bunch of numbers for her proposed military buildup and it just made Trump look clueless.  He dropped about five points.

The whole Heidi Cruz debacle probably hurt him in Wisconsin.

The judge stuff hurt him a bit in the polls.

Really, the stuff about Trump being "teflon" is kind of overstated. Stuff does hurt him, just not enough to destroy him. This was more apparent in the primary than in the general election, when people can and do tank instantly, whereas in the general you're basically going to get 45% of the vote just for showing up under any circumstances.

This is a tough thing to do, because, for instance, the early comments about Mexicans obviously did hurt him amongst a large proportion of the population, but on the other hand, he gained more than he lost. Infact, he would probably not have been the GOP nominee if it hadn't been for those comments.

Any notion of him being Teflon is wrong. Given how at least 45% of the country and just about every minority hates him with every fiber of their being, that's not Teflon.
