http://m.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2016/white_house_watch

Trump 43(-1)
Hillary 42(+5)

Edit, forgot to say that this ran last week, so it gives a good mark as to see what kind of bounce; positive or negative, Trump will get from this.

Not bad from a polling firm that weights its sample for party ID, doesn't use cell phones/internet or Spanish.

And has them almost tied among others, which include Hispanics, Asians and all other ethnic groups.

I think people had a knee jerk reaction to the FBI decision and protested. It's just coming back to what the race is, 2-5 point Clinton lead.

It could also be like this:

Because both Trump and Clinton are extremely unpopular candidates, Trump could now actually get a negative bounce and next week Clinton too.

The more voters hear from both at the conventions, the more their numbers drop.

Unlikely.  Only reason Trump would get negative bounce is because of how bad a Dumpster fire this convention has been.  Dem one shouldn't (knock on wood) be anything like that.

There will definitely be done squabbles, but Bernie will ask his supporters to vote Clinton. Obama and Warren will do the same. The Dem convention will be far more united than the GOP. And I imagine more positive and optimistic.

That makes no sense, though. A positive convention rollout improves favorables and increases support, even for disliked candidates.

If the convention goes poorly, then perhaps, but there's little to support your narrative.

Looks like Hillary is getting an RNC bounce!

Rasmussen says, "Our weekly national telephone and online survey."

Therefore, this poll consists of information from last week, a time at which there was no convention. Correspondingly, this poll says nothing about "an RNC bounce."

1) It was a joke
2) Half of the interviews were conducted after Crooked Melania's plagiarism

If you're a Republican and Rasmussen only has you up one, you know you're in trouble.
