Why should we allow the lgbt community to donate blood when it's been proven that the disease risk is just too high? I cannot in good conscience support this bill even with the right of a victim to sue.

Well that's actually incorrect- it's not the LGBT community but rather 'Men who have sex with Men'

Quite true. While it is higher among Gay Men, I don't see how in good conscience someone cannot support letting us give blood if we are tested for STIs and are proved to be safe from them. It is the height of lunacy for me.

It's useless debating JCL; he'll just reply to you with some long rant about the 'rainbow jihad'.

Seriously, it's sad you think low of me because I don't think gay men shouldn't donate blood on the basis of scientific fact that the risk of disease is too high and it has been proven as such. It's a matter of safety not hate.

Again people need to understand how HIV/AIDs- it's not gay men, but 'men who have sex with men'. Huge difference

Uh, Blair, you might want to fix that typo.

As for you, JCL, you've been the same way ever since I came to Atlasia: all talk and no sources. This is just a continuation of your previous rhetoric when it comes to debating. Apparently, you seem to believe that if you make enough ridiculous claims with no backing whatsoever, it'll magically make your beliefs have basis in reality.

My belief is backed in science Blair. The current regulations are fine and shouldn't change. The burden is on your side to prove why we should allow it not on mine to forbid.

What you are saying is pretty illogical if you are saying it. Yes it is higher with MSM, but restricting the entire gay community who are much safer with these diseases is pretty silly. It's really a no-brainer, more blood donations and more equality. You pass an STI test, you donate blood, you are on your way.

Case Closed.

Well seeing as this Bill is most likely to pass the Senate, and the House it appears that not for the first, and I doubt not for the last time the member will be firmly on the wrong side of history

Just saying, heterosexual people can catch STDs as well. Should we ban blood donation all together, Representative, or is this just an excuse for you to try to break down the boundary between church and state?

No standing I guess, but we apparently have the data and intelligence.

So can you cite your sources, JCL? This is not the first time I've asked, and judging from your feeble attempts at debating, it probably won't be the last.
