He is willing to engage in diplomacy. How exactly is that a bad thing?

This isn't problematic in itself, though Kim would never entertain such an offer.

The problem is that Donald Trump has done nothing but antagonize and alienate our allies whilst doing everything to cozy up to and liken himself to our enemies.

It's like he wants to completely change the fabric of American foreign policy and our allegiances. If Donald Trump were president during WWII, we'd probably join the AXIS.

Which makes his hate-boner for Iran seem all the more weird and insincere.

Kim Jong Un is not an ordinary dictator who we could realistically negotiate with, like Putin. Kim is a psychotic with a god complex, there is no benefit to bringing him here.

Kim Jong Un should be avoided like the plague, not given legitimacy by being invited to the White House by a megalomaniac President.

That kind of policy was pursued for more than 25 years. It hasn't worked.

Nixon and Reagan pursued a different kind of policy, which worked.

Perhaps it's time to return to that different kind of policy.

Very presidential(literally). Most Presidents do bring over a dictator to dinner in their Presidency.

Welcoming and hosting dictators in the US, and bringing them into the White House is... problematic.
There is one living in the White House right now. Wink

(That felt so good to say... and I'm even allowed to say that because I have a blue avatar!)

Ugh.

There's still time to jump ship. Wink

I wonder if President Trump would have to apologize for "the Interview" in order for Kim to accept his invitation.

Trump would let the most barbaric, dangerous dictator in the world, who just happens to also be the leader of a state sponsor of terror, enter the United States, but we can't have any stinkin' Muslims!

This.

I'm actually willing to reconsider Nixon's place in history.  He'll be forever tarnished by Watergate, but his foreign policy made the world a safer place.

That would make for a great 1-hour TV show.
One "psychotic" with a God complex (Kim Jong Un) meets another (trump) to discuss "serious" matters.
What a disaster that would be.

He does realize that Obama is perfectly willing to speak to Kim Jong Un right? It's Kim Jong Un that won't negotiate over his nukes.

lol That's a good point, maybe if it's a one off televised thing for the sake of hilarity I could get on board. It's still absurd foreign policy though.

Not a Trump supporter at all, but...

He is willing to engage in diplomacy. How exactly is that a bad thing?
The U.S. needs to exert diplomatic pressure on North Korea, and Saudi Arabia for that matter. If the regimes then refuse to let up on their gross human rights violations, the regimes should be overthrown. Can we imagine how much better the Middle East would be if Bush had invaded Saudi Arabia, and allowed Iran to overtake and stabilize the region? Of course, it would never and did not happen. Diplomacy is never a bad thing.
