I would like to join.  I'm supportive of the death penalty in limited uses (ie when there is incontroversial DNA evidense) and would change the wording of the Schiavo plank, but overall I support the aims of this organization.

It's great to be here in Salt Lake City addressing this very important organization.  I want to speak to all of you about an issue near and dear to my heart; abortion.  I realize that abortion is one of those issues that stir up all kinds of emotions from people of both sides of the debate.  Many people have asked me why a libertarian-leaning conservative as myself would oppose abortion.  The reason is that I believe that life begins at conception and to abort a child is tantamount to murder.  I believe in a limited role of government, but one role that any just government must take on is to protect the rights of those members of society that cannot protect themselves.  The unborn child is the most helpless member of society and must have his or her rights protected!

If elected to the Pacific Senate seat, I will fight for all Atlasians who cannot fight for their own rights.  I also oppose euthanasia on these grounds.  While I support the rights of people to create Living Wills while they are of sound mind and body, I oppose doctors or family members stepping in to decide if their patient or ailing family member has a life worth saving.  That decision can only be made by God or the person itself through a Living Will.  If elected to the Senate, I will be a voice for life and that is why I am here today asking for your endorsement.  Thank you all for your time.

Even though I realize my chance of getting the Right to Life League's endorsement are zero to none, I still feel it is important for me to address this body.

On abortion, I feel that abortion is morally wrong, however, I do not believe it is the government's duty to control people's personal lives.  In the first trimester, I believe abortion should be an option for all cases, but the government should encourage all those seeking an abortion for reasons other than rape, incest, and endangerment to the mother's health should be encouraged to pursue adoption in order to save the life of the child.  In the second and third trimesters I believe that abortion should only be an option for cases of rape, incest, and endangerment to the mother's health.

I oppose the death penalty for all cases except terrorism because the government cannot effectively stop murder while killing prisoners' itself.

On euthanasia, I repectfully disagree with the members of the Right to Life League on the grounds that I do not believe the government should control people's lives this much.  I believe that euthanasia should only be used in cases of extreme pain and in cases of vegetation.  On the Terry Schiavo case, I believe it was wrong for the government to order the starvation of her, but I feel if euthanasia were legal, she could have died peacefully.

Thank you.  I just wanted to speak here so you know my views on the issues.

Thank you for sharing your views, True Democrat.  While I agree that you have little chance of recieving our endorsement, I applaud your courage to speak before a league such as this when doing so could endanger your positition with some of the knee-jerk liberals that this forum has.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Right to Life League, I come before you tonight to discuss issues of importance to you, and hope that you decide that I am the proper candidate for your League to endorse.  I believe that of all the presidential candidates, I most closely match the spirit of your League.
I have never been a fan of abortion.  You may remember the Boss Abortion Acts, three acts that banned abortion after the first trimester, sponsored by the "infamous" Boss Tweed.  I fully support what these acts are trying to accomplish.  As far as a ban on the first trimester goes, I recognize the good intention and idealism of the idea, but pragmatically I cannot support it.  I think we all know how emotional and strong-willed women can get, and we don't want women seeking unsafe back-alley abortions.  Where I agree with yall in spirit totally, I cannot totally agree with you in practice.  However, this is not a major difference I think, as other candidates have much bigger disagreements with the culture of life.
On capital punishment, I oppose the practice totally.  A government cannot say "don't kill" out of its mouth and kill with its fist.  It's paradoxical and accomplishes nothing.  Also, recent statistics show that an unacceptably high number of criminals put to death were actually innocent.  This barbaric practice has no place in the modern world; nearly every major philosophy and religion stresses forgiveness of trangressions, and Atlasia needs to have such a philosophy.
I am also opposed to euthanasia.  I do not believe a person should be able to just end his or her own life.  I realize that certain situations come up in which a person goes into a permanent and irreversible vegetative state, and if it can be proved without doubt that the person will never get better, and that they're only "alive" thanks to a machine, I do not oppose pulling the plug; however I believe the gun was jumped a bit in the Schaivo case.  Though I don't support the action of Congress to turn it around, I do wish Terri had been allowed a little longer, before it could've been proven conclusively.
Here is another belief of mine relating to the Culture of Life:  I support the cancellation of African debt, a topic which no other candidate has brought up.  Without binding debt to other nations, they will be able to spend the money in self-improvement.  People will no longer have to starve and spend each day wondering if they'll live to see the next.  Should the Right to Life League not support such an action?
On first glance, some may not expect a liberal-minded person to have that much in common with the Right to Life League, but several factors, including my cultural and religious upbringing, have put me in tune with most of your ideals.  If one were to take the three major planks of the League equally, which one should, you will see that I match up totally on two planks, and about 2/3 on the other plank, for a grand total of an 89% matchup.  You will not find another candidate in this election with nearly as high of a matchup.  Therefore I ask you to endorse me for president, and with your help, I can lead this nation and help enact what you and I both wish to see done.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I thank you for this oppertunity to speak to you today.  My remarks will be brief, as I see no reason to pad my resume with a lot of fluff.  I am the most strongly pro-life candidate that is running for President in this election.  While others may have talked about doing something about abortion in the grand-high platitudes of the public arena, I have been busy doing what I can to eliminate the economic and social needs for abortion in this country.  I don't need to talk about my record, you know it.

I believe, in my heart of hearts, that all life is precious and must be protected.  I don't believe that there exists any such thing as a "surplus population".  I believe that all people, no matter how lowly are important and must be protected.

I am against capitol punishment, in principle and believe that it should only be reserved for the most truely dangerous of criminals.  I support the use of the military to advance and protect the cause of Freedom, but I will only target those who are a threat to life, liberty and freedom.

I am against euthenasia, as I believe that every person, even in a state of death or suffering is worthwhile and that those people teach us so much about the true meaning of life and compassion.

I believe, also, that the protection of life must extend into the middle years of aging.  Only by helping others, through our charity, to live healthier, more fulfilling lives, can we show truth of our own deeply held beliefs.

"Blessed are the meak," Jesus tells us and blessed is each of us, I believe, if we take up the defense of the innocent who are in danger, and call it our own.

Thank you.  God Bless.
