Lots of white guys in this thread convinced that sexism is dead.

What does race have to do with that, Ebsy?

You're overthinking it.

Lots of white guys in this thread convinced that sexism is dead.

I see that all the time, here and also in another forum that I've been a long time poster of. It's the white males who laugh when I bring up the subject of sexism. Of course they can't see it and don't want to see it because, well, who cares, right?

That's why I say, if you aren't on the receiving end of sexism (or racism or homophobia or bigotry etc.) then chances are high you don't think it exists to any extent in our society.

Wrong!

What?

Based on personal experience talking with Clinton haters, it would be wrong to totally reduce their hatred to sexism but I think there's often a significant level of sexist irritation with her as a strong woman - Hillary frequently gets labeled shrill or as "shouting" by people I know for things that they have no problems with for male pols.

At the same time, the Clinton campaign needs to be very careful when lobbying accusations of sexism - they have a tendency to "cry wolf" a lot (for instance, saying that Bernie Sanders offering to debate Trump was a "sexist act") that will totally backfire and innoculate voters against very legitimate charges of sexism.

I basically agree with this.

Hicknenlooper said something that was above all else, completely unnecessary.

Any time that the subject of sexism can be entered into the conversation because its appearance in society has apparently reared its ugly head, it's never "completely unnecessary" in my book. If mentioning it helps to keep the concept and practice of sexism in the spotlight, then I'm all for it.

Maybe one day Hillary hacks will accidentally be right about sexism against her.

Hickenlooper accidentally revealed a different kind of sexism: His stumbling makes you realize Warren is 100x better at being a surrogate than any other Democrat and she would be way more likely to be picked for VP if she were a he.

He is correct. The sexist and biased media holds Hillary Clinton to a higher standard than they do any other candidate.

This.  It would be treated FAR worse if she were a Republican.

Berniebro, I and most NH women voted for Bernie too, and didn't support her in 2008 either. But if you can't see that Hillary has been subject to sexist attacks throughout her career, you are either blind or not paying attention.

I think if males (and yes some females as well) can't see the sexism then it's willfully so, because to do otherwise, they would have to examine their own behavior and admit how they themselves discriminate against women and perpetuate sexism. Too uncomfortable. It's much easier to laugh off charges and dismiss that sexism exists.

I've seen it a million times.
