Didn't they already do this on virtually all bills anyway?

I guess it'd be the Ryan Rule now. Rolls off the tongue pretty well.

I wonder if Rep. Reid Ribble reckons the Ryan Rule will reunite Republicans before he retires.

Trying out this alliteration thing.

Rather ridiculous, my ravishingly reprobate Republican!

If the GOP suffers major losses but keeps the House (say, has its majority trimmed down to 226 seats) the Hastert Rule will become even more of a nuisance and each individual R will have way more power under it.

Republicans want to expand a rule that explicitly places partisanship over country without any pretense? Shocking news.

That's why God invented discharge petitions. Just put the rule on ignore. If I were a Pub in Congress, i would probably be signing a fair number of those. You see, I believe in governance and compromise, something that seems to be an increasingly esoteric concept in certain Pub quarters.

To be frank, both major parties are being strangled by their bases, and they respond with hugs.

+1. Though Republicans - more. But, i fear, that only means that Democrats will catch up by 2020....

Discharge petitions are exceedingly rare and are not how the legislative process is supposed to work. Stop being an apologist for these idiots.

I am not apologizing for them; I'm traducing them. They should sign discharge petitions more often, and not allow these procedural games thwarting the democratic process to succeed.

Yeah, a Congress that already is the most "do-nothing" in modern history really doesn't need more policy to prevent bills from going through....
