So protests have really been in force against one particular candidate and his divisive rhetoric. Some love the protesters, others wish atrocities on them.

What if you were a candidate for president? How would you handle the protests?

I'd have wiggle room for protesters at my rallies, within reason. If possible, I'd rather keep my supporters and protesters separated.

Protesters would be free to wave unflattering signs of me, tell me I suck, give me the finger, I don't care. As soon as one of them threatens or engages in violence, I want them arrested.

The same would go for my supporters, otherwise we're no better.

I'd even be willing to meet protesters and supporters afterwards, time permitting. It's a reminder how imperative it is that one must be president of all the people and not just those in his or her camp.

Discuss.

If they aren't violent, escort them out and don't press charges. If they are, have them arrested and charged with whatever my lawyer recommends.

Essentially this.

But seriously, I'll let security deal with it.

Whose rights did the protesters infringe on last night? Trump called it off.

Your anti-Trump feelings are so strong that they are over-riding your basic belief of the right for the free people of Illinois to attend a political rally.

If you cannot acknowledge their right to attend, then that makes your judgement of this issue a very slippery slope before you begin.

If they're not violent - challenge them to be productive by inviting them to speak to me privately. If they're violent - obviously...

People have a right to both attend and protest.

I don't know, and that's why I'm glad I'm an actuary and not a senator.
