Donald Trump only cares about Donald Trump. It isn't that he is intentionally trying to destroy the GOP, it is the fact that he doesn't care if he does.

I don't think so. 

His goal is to amass a great fortune.  Becoming president may give him some authority to affect laws that will help him do that.  If he happens to destroy any person or political faction in his quest to amass a great fortune, then he can regard it as collateral damage.  It is a side-effect, not a goal.

I don't think so. I used to believe the idea that Trump is secretly on my side and wants my candidate (Clinton or Sanders) to win, but now I'm pretty sure that Trump is on nobody's side but his own. He wants to win or, failing that, get lots of attention.

If only. But Trump has made the Republicans face real truth about their economic policy and their foreign policy, both of which have largely bankrupted the country. That is the real substance we get from his candidacy.

The GOP has been destroyed for me, at least. I've never voted Democrat, but this will be my first time. This election has opened my eyes at how badly racism and fascism is running rampant in their ranks, made apparent thanks to Trump.
