From Politics1.com:

P2008: US News & World Report claims that US Secretary of State Condi Rice (R) is officially disclaining interest in the '08 White House race, she is already having her political friends encourage the idea of a "Draft Rice for President" effort.

She wouldn't go far in the Primaries but still an interesting decision.

She's inteligent enough for the office that's for sure.

I'm still waiting for Chuck Grassley to run though. Smiley

I probably wouldn't vote for her, but I wouldn't mind having her as my Commander-in-Chief.

Or she might be building political connections to sew up the VP slot.

Why not, out of curiosity?

No way I'd vote for someone like her, and hopefully no one is stupid enough to select her for vice-president.

I was also wondering.  I've heard she's "too-academic" among many excuses.  She's obviously conservative (perhaps, more than Bush).  I'd like stuff like that to be clarified.

Rice is a typical neo-con. Social liberal, economic moderate at best, and pretty damn hawkish.  Plus she's a woman.

Why wouldn't she go far in the primaries?  The vast majority of Republicans adore her.  Admittedly, she will face a tough race against Frist Smiley... but I think she's awesome!

Actually, I just saw a bumper sticker reading simply "CONDOLEZZA" on my street today. What could it refer to besides 2008? If so, it would be the first 2008 bumper sticker sighting so far on my part.

Granted, this is from a county that went 66%-32% Kerry. Sadly, Rice's liberal social views plus her race and gender are more negatives than positives once all has been accounted for. She wouldn't win the nomination.

She can win!  It is interesting though...  all of our top high-profile candidates are moderates.  (Giuliani, McCain, Rice... even Romney by virtue of his state)

Yes, and none of them will win the nomination (except perhaps McCain, but he's more of a maverick than anything else)

My money is on Frist or Allen...if Allen succeeds Frist as SML, then my money's on him.  Reps. are painfully predictable in their primaries.  It's no wonder:  My state makes them or breaks them.  If McConnel or Santorum (if Dems. run Pinocchio instead of Casey) becomes the maj. ldr., then my money's on Frist.

All I know is that Chevron had to change the name of one of their ships when she was selected to be Bush's advisor.  Even though the ship was named after her because she was on the company's board of directors, they had to show some separation between Oil and the White House.  This, though, would definitely come up if she ran for office.  "Look, another Big Oil Republican.  Can we handle four more years?"

She thinks that Bolton is appropriate for the job so shows what type opf radical she is. Plus she lied to the us senate commission.

Condi is very intelligent and will distinguish herself as one of the greatest Secretarys of State in history.

She will not seek the GOP nomintion for President or for Vice President.

The vast majority admore her? Not true. Many approve of her (like myself) but when it comes to an elected office, there will be more of a view on her stances. Her social stances would kill her in the south.

Yeah, no more oil execs for a while, please. We can't afford it. Otherwise she seems okay if she really is a "social liberal and economic moderate."
