This. A Gilmore/Kasich tag team will likely win VA and OH, allowing them to focus on FL, IA, and CO.

I don't see any way for Gilmore to win the nomination, but if he hangs in the race until there are only a few candidates remaining, I believe Gilmore can then get some name recognition and be a potential VP. Kasich/Gilmore or Bush/Gilmore is most likely.

Yeah, Gilmore's rockstar status in Virginia would clearly make the state safe R. Just look at the last time he ran statewide. Pure domination.

Bill Clinton

In all seriousness, probably a younger, more energetic and charismatic individual than Gilmore who admittedly does not excite many people. That being said it's difficult to not be more charismatic than Gilmore so i'll go with Jeb 'low energy' Bush.

Gilmore lost the U.S. Senate race in Virginia because he was running against Mark Warner, who had been Governor just two years prior, and was popular.

George Pataki, because they were both Governor during 9/11.

That would be an objectively experience-rich ticket. I personally think Pataki/Gilmore would be stronger than Gilmore/Pataki, but I could conceivably vote for either. The media, however, would be unable to get over the fact that Gilmore and Pataki are two old white men (67 and 71, respectively) who haven't held office in a decade. Additionally, a large part of the base would stay home or vote third-party before electing two pro-choice candidates.

I think the pro-lifers would support Gilmore with his less-than-perfect views on the topic quite a bit more readily than Pataki. He would need a solid pro-life VP though. I mean, for starters Gilmore has said he thinks Roe was wrongly decided and would celebrate it being overturned.

As a prolifer I can say I won't. I personally won't vote for him since he refuses to take a firm pro life stance and is prochoice up to a point.

Would this also be true if Gilmore was the VP of a pro-lifer such as Rubio or Cruz? If Gilmore was the nominee, would you stay home or vote third-party?
I'll always vote, but in this case it will probably be for a third party because I would question his judgement. This wouldn't happen though; prochoice republicans are all but gone in the party...

What is the bare minimum you would accept from a candidate in order to give them your support? Would you have supported John McCain, whose views are arguably less pro-life than Gilmore's?

For me, I would think wanting to overturn Roe at least merits voting for them for president.

I unhappily would support John McCain, but his views are more conservative on the issue than Gilmore. And i didn't know Gilmore wanted to overturn Roe V. Wade. I may reconsider under that knowledge... MAYBE i would have to look in to it more.
