Of course he did, it's a major part of his narrative. Carson loves to talk about how he was a street thug who tried to shank a guy for changing the radio station and threatened to hit his mother with a hammer before the power of Jesus and education turned him into a wonderful surgeon who gives back to the community etc. It's a key part of his redemption narrative that makes him as popular as he is with the religious right.
