Can you think of a conceivable way to achieve such an outcome, lasting to the present day. Would such a union be a possibility had the Colonies lost the War of American Independence, or had more astute political leadership emerged in Great Britain during the 1760s/1770s?

Aside: If this Anglo Union existed today, without the US, it would have about the same population as Mexico alone -- and that's not considering the secession of Quebec. People have a tendency to forget just how small CAN and AUS are, in spite of the immense territory they occupy.

True, but they would have the world's third largest economy (or fourth if you count the EU).
