In any case, I have little concern for the silly fantasies of NAMBLA members and other unqualified "observers."

If they want to believe Virginia will be some kind of Democratic bastion in a few years, fine by me. Just don't expect the actual results to ever match your expectations.

Do you imagine that every state will trend Republican, or can you name any states that may trend Democratic?

If you were around in the 1940s, would you have said that Virginia turning into a Republican bastion was also fantasy?

I don't see why Virginia would turn to Democratic.

I do think the Republicans are recovering in the Northeast from the Newt Gingrich years and will be competitive here if someone like McCain gets the nomination.

Where do you see Connecticut and Virginia in the future however?  Say in 20 years.

With Connecticut possibly losing the Navy in Groton (my home town), it will fall towards the Democratic side.  With VA constantly gaining more military and contractors, it will stay Republican.

Remember, Virginia use to be a Democratic state.

by that same standard, Maryland could also turn Republican as it gains more personnel from all the other bases being shuttered elsewhere -not a pleasant thought.....  Tongue
