They are miles apart on many issues, yet when it comes to debates and campaigning they never lay a finger on each other, I know many Ron Paul supporters are supporting Cruz, but they're not really pulling from the same base. Cruz is going for traditional Tea Party and Christian Conservative Republicans while Paul is going for libertarians.

I think because they know both will need each others support in this election. Specifically Cruz.

Cruz *may* be my 2nd option should Rand drop out, but I don't think Cruz will gain the libertarian support that Rand has, to be honest I think Rand is underperforming in the polls because many traditional polls that use landlines underrepresent the young GOP vote which Rand is doing quite well with.

Cruz is making a severe effort to eat into the "Liberty Movement" so it would be a bit unbecoming. Remember they are also allies in the senate, so they probably like each other on some level.

Rand Paul has sought to get legislation passed, Ted Cruz has only given speeches and appeared on talk shows. His every move has been for running for President.

It's also possible that Cruz doesn't want to waste time going after Paul, whose campaign is effectively dead, while Paul can't afford to use any resources picking fights, and is trying to stay afloat.
