If Rick Perry actually tries to say all them there big words, he'll drop 5 points in the polls. Or, rather, he would if he had 5 points to drop. Oops!

Perry has honestly impressed me so far this year. If he keeps his spot in the first debate I have a feeling he'll get a noticeable bump in the polls.

If he hadn't ran the worse campaign possible in 2012 he honestly could have been a front runner this time

He has a good resume and looks good on paper, but being President requires more than wearing glasses. You have to 1) not be an idiot and 2) stand up for the American people.

We've had Presidents that are idiots and Presidents that didn't stand up for the American people. So, clearly, those are not requirements.

Point well taken. Yeah, you're right, he could be President. But he ought not to be.

Nice speech, Rick!  Pretty big talk for a man under felony indictment!

Military service is in no way a qualification to be President.

The candidate I am supporting has never served in uniform. I just find it telling that Donald Trump, in the same week, said that John McCain was not a hero and that Lindsey Graham couldn't find a job in the private sector when for decades, Graham has served in uniform. Rick Perry and Lindsey Graham are not my candidates. I disagree with Rick Perry on border security, I disagree with Lindsey Graham on cap & trade and campaign finance reform. But I respect their service to our nation and am grateful to them and countless others who have served in uniform.

I'll be honest, I really didn't like Rick Perry, and I still don't agree with him on LGBT issues or immigration. However, he has impressed me a lot this year, and he's probably become one of my favorite candidates now. I also like how Trump doesn't like him, which means he must be doing something right.

Perry continues to impress. He may not do well in the horserace numbers but look at his favorables and he is in the top tier. I still believe that if he performs well in the first debate he will be poised to jump into the top tier if one of the others falters, especially Walker.

Perry has "impressed" so far because of limited exposure. If he ever finds himself under the microscope, we'll be treated to many more "Oops" moments.
