Sanders is a socialist. The fact that he tacks "democratic" in front of "socialist" when describing himself to become more electable doesn't change the fact that his political positions are solidly socialist on almost every issue.
Name one solidly socialist position he takes.

Single Payer health care. It shuts down an entire section of private industry.

So did ending slavery.

Does that make the rest of the western world socialist?

Not the perfect analogy. The jobs that slaves did didn't suddenly go away, you just had to compensate the people that did them. With single payer health care, health care insurance-related jobs suffer immediate and permanent extinction.

Yes, at least in the health care industry.

Well, you, probably, do not approve of private ownership of nuclear arms and smallpox germs. Clearly, that makes you a Communist.

I always love how folks can post tripe from left-wing websites like Talking Points Memo or Mother Jones without anyone making a peep about that person being a troll, but once someone posts anything from right-wing websites like National Review, they are automatically "trolls".

Kevin Williamson has a point - Sanders is a self-admitted socialist and some of his policies are cut out of the same xenophobic nationalist protectionism as Donald Trump.  What does that make him, exactly?

You know full-well that I am a free-trade, free-market anti-Communist Mexican Jew. So, let me repeat: this is trolling. And not even very good quality trolling: not smart enough for that.

Private industry is incapable of managing nuclear arms and germs, so opposing private ownership there (as I of course do) is not socialist or communist.

The article is not saying he is a "National Socialist,"  it is saying he is a "national socialist."

How is that argument different from the one advanced for healthcare?

Not sure how supporting American manufacturing is xenophobic.

"Not sure how supporting enforcing our immigration laws is xenophobic."  (I'm not conservative on immigration, but come on.)

Trust me when I say that Bernie Sanders isn't like Hugo Chávez. And that's a good thing.

Then 65% of Americans are socialists.

Bernie Sanders is not a socialist. And while the article is way over the top, it is important to note that Sanders (and other Democrats) us an "us vs them" rhetoric when discussing economic matters. And that can lead to xenophobia.

If Sanders were a socialist or even a progressive he would say that the Chinese workers also suffer from the capitalist system. And he would say that the system is to blame and not some specific people.

No, according to your stat, 65% of Americans support one socialist idea.  Half of them probably have no idea the financial measures the government would have to go to to pay for it, too.

Capitalism where government exists =/= socialism
