**McCAIN ELECTED PRESIDENT**

BRET--Folks, we have a climactic call to make right now. At 12:04 AM Eastern time, our decision desk can now project that John McCain will win Colorado and their nine electoral votes. But more importantly, this will put him over the 270 electoral vote threshold. Ladies and gentlemen, John Sidney McCain has been elected the 44th President of the United States.

COLORADO (65% REPORTING)

Sen. John S. McCain (R-AZ)/Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) 49.7% 9 EV

Sen. Barack H. Obama (D-IL)/Sen. Joseph R. Biden (D-DE) 46.1%

MEGYN--You can see the crowd in Arizona...they are going wild. John McCain woke up this morning as an underdog. He needed to thread the needle to even have a chance at contention tonight, according to every pundit. He was a Vietnam War hero, US Congressman from 1982 to 1986, served 22 years in the Senate, and tonight he has reached the apex of his career.

BRET--We are receiving word now from the Obama camp that he will be giving a concession speech shortly. And this one...it has to hurt badly. For years, we have looked at 1948 as the ultimate upset in the history of presidential elections...but it looks like 2008 will usurp that title after tonight.

MEGYN--The only polls that count are the ones taken on Election Day. Incredible.

NATION (79% REPORTING)

Sen. John S. McCain (R-AZ)/Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) 51.6% 270 EV
Sen. Barack H. Obama (D-IL)/Sen. Joseph R. Biden (D-DE) 47.5% 215 EV

OBAMA CONCEDES ELECTION
"America made a choice tonight...and we will respect it."

Concession speech text...

(Applause) "Thank you, my fellow Americans. I'd like to thank my wonderful, beautiful wife Michelle for being by my side for every step of this wonderful journey (applause), and express my utmost gratitude to Joe and Jill Biden for being the best #2 team I could've ever asked for.

"I just got off the phone with President-elect McCain, and I congratulated him on his victory tonight. (Boos and jeers) No, no. Please. John McCain deserves our utmost respect. He ran an honorable, phenomenal campaign...and if I couldn't get elected in 2008, I couldn't think of another person with whom I'd be happier.

"America made a choice tonight, and we will respect it. We may be angry, we may be bitter, and we may be disappointed. But we must never forget what makes America great, and among those tenets is not only the gracious acceptance of victory, but also the peaceful acceptance of temporary defeat.

"Michelle and I watched together as the election was called for John McCain. I squeezed my wife's hand, and we both made the decision to wake the girls up and let them know what happened. Sasha, our 7-year-old, just looked at me with her big eyes and said, 'Daddy, can we have another election tomorrow?' (Laughter) I said, 'No, sweetheart. It doesn't quite work that way. But we will have another election (voice rising) IN 2012!!' (Roaring applause)

"In closing, we lost an election tonight. No doors have been permanently closed...they've just been temporary slid in another direction. I will ask that every one of you make me two promises tonight. Number one, please give your full support to our President-elect. He wants the very best for this country, as do we. Our differences lie in method, but not purpose. And number two...do not ever believe that you didn't make a difference in this election. You did. We all did. (Voice cracking) This election ends tonight, but our dream lives on tomorrow. Thank you, God bless you, God bless President-elect McCain, and God bless the United States of America!!"

There has to be another POD other than just a "polling error". At that time in 2008, A republican could have only won if the GFC never happened.

On vacation at the moment with limited access to wifi. It will be worth the wait though.
